PetrolDaisy, our pale yellow classic VW Camper has recently been lovingly restored. We are based in South West Scotland.
Our 1973 Type 2 VW camper, Daisy has been lovingly restored to a high standard, keeping the vintage feel, but adding a few modern "necessities"! We are based in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway, SW Scotland a fantastic place to stay or an ideal start off point for exploring the Lakes, Northumberland or the rest of Scotland. She will easily take 3 campers, (4 including 2 children), but we also have a 5m bell tent available for hire to accommodate more travellers. She also comes fully equipped for your camping adventure.
Daisy also has the advantage of of more robust Type 4 engine, meaning she is more reliable and has more power than some Type 2 vans.

Terms & Conditions for self drive camper hire
Please note that when you make a booking you are agreeing to our T&Cs.
These terms and conditions are set out in good faith, to ensure that the customer is fully informed to get the best experience from hiring a classic car!
By making a booking the customer agrees to these terms & conditions.
Kippford Classic Car Hire - KCCH
Hirer(s) The person, or persons entitled to drive the vehicle ; all drivers must be between 25 & 72 years of age, and must have held a full driving licence for at least 3 years; a clean licence (excepting minor endorsements) must be produced along with one other form of identification e.g. passport, utility bill etc, prior to the commencement of the hire. (send photocopy, or e-mail attachment)
Before a customer sets off, we insist that they familiarise themselves with the vehicle, we can assist by giving a brief instruction, or drive if required. (Classic cars have their own character, and usually do not have modern driving aids such as power assisted steering, or servo assisted brakes)
KCCH reserves the right to refuse to hire a vehicle at its own discretion, at any time.
Persons not entitled to drive
Below 25, and over 72 years of age.
Has been refused motor insurance.
Has any mental, or physical defect or infirmity, suffers from fits or a major medical complaint.
Has been banned from driving by conviction.
Whilst driving has been involved in more than 1 accident in the last 3 years.
Weather conditions If booking a car for hire during the winter months please bear in mind that it would not be released if there were snow, or ice on the roads, heavy storms, or any form of severe weather forecast.
Should this be the case, then a credit note would be issued for a re-scheduling of the booking.
Insurance Cover The hired vehicle will be covered by comprehensive motor insurance cover, which also include free excess and collision damage, and free uninsured loss policy. The vehicle is also covered by RAC breakdown & recovery service.
There is a surcharge for non-UK driving licences - EU an extra £6.50 per day and USA an extra £12.50 per day. There may also be a surcharge if there are more than 3 points on the driver's licence; any recent motoring or non-motoring convictions or any recent insurance claims.
It is the responsibility of the driver hiring the vehicle to ensure that when the vehicle is left unattended, the supplied steering wheel lock is fitted, the vehicle is locked, and the keys removed.
KCCH cannot be held responsible for any personal items left in the vehicle.
Use of vehicle The vehicle can only be used for social, domestic, and pleasure purposes by the hirer(s) permitted to drive. Any forms of motorsport is not permitted. We advise against taking the vehicle on un-made roads, or on soft ground.
The vehicle must not be taken out of the UK.
There is no daily mileage limit.
Items supplied Any maps, rugs, locks, and equipment supplied with the vehicle are the property of KCCH, and must be returned with the car at the end of the hire period, failure to do so will result in charges for missing / damaged items.
Fuel The vehicle will have a full tank of petrol when released for hire, it is the hirers responsibility to return the vehicle with a full tank of premium unleaded petrol. Nearest fuel station, Esso Dalbeattie, 7 Maxwell St, DG5 4AH
Customer’s vehicle & property We are happy for customers to leave their own vehicle on our land during the course of the hire. This is at the customers own risk, KCCH is not responsible for loss, or damage to the customers property.
Excess & security bond At the beginning of the hire period the customer must leave a refundable credit/debit card security deposit of £500.00, this is for:
1. A security bond.
2. Payment towards mechanical & cosmetic damage to the vehicle not covered by the insurance policy eg, wheels & tyres, clutch damage, wrong fuel added etc.
3. Insurance excess against accidental damage, or loss to the vehicle caused by the hirer.
4. Any additional charges, such as loss of keys, non replenishment of fuel etc.
5. Late return of vehicle.
Note: Any charges made against the security deposit will be fairly proportioned.
Bookings Bookings can be made by debit/credit card, or by bank transfer.
A minimum deposit of £50.00 or 20% of the total price must be made at the time of booking.
The full balance of the hire must be paid at least 2 weeks prior to the start date of hire.
When booking within 2 weeks of the start date of hire, full payment will be required.
Cancellations Deposits are not refundable.
If you have to change your booking date we will do our best to offer you an available alternative.
Hours of hire 09.00 - 19.00 from first to last day of hire. It may be possible to agree different start/finish times at the discretion of KCCH.
Failure to return the vehicle by the agreed time may result in additional charges.
Charges The hirer shall reimburse the following to the owner on demand:
- Any fines; fixed penalties; court costs; or other expenses imposed on KCCH by law, arising from the use of the vehicle whilst on hire.
- Costs of recovery, by contractor or by the owner.
- Costs incurred if the vehicle is impounded.
- Cost of non replacement of fuel.
- Reimbursement of damage; missing items; or any item not covered by the insurance policy.
Acceptance In making a booking either by telephone, internet, or in writing, the customer agrees to these terms & conditions.
The hirer will be required to sign our hire agreement before the hire commences.
